A total of 66 workers in various departments have been let go by Iron Galaxy, the company that makes games like Rumbleverse. The most recent Iron Galaxy layoffs highlight tumultuous conditions in a sector that has had numerous layoffs in recent years. The seasoned studio first launched for business in 2008. Diverkick, Extinction, and a few Killer Instinct seasons are just a few of the many titles it has created over the years.

In 2022, it released its most recent original product, the doomed online game Rumbleverse. Iron Galaxy has vast expertise in porting games to different platforms, despite having a very small library of its titles. From porting the Batman Arkham games to various platforms to creating PC versions of first-party PlayStation games like Uncharted 4, the American developer has extensive experience with porting.

Iron Galaxy's layoffs follow an expansion

However, due to recent layoffs, it appears that fewer workers will be working on its upcoming projects. Iron Galaxy disclosed that it had laid off 66 workers from the support and development teams combined. The move was referred to as the "last resort" by the seasoned studio to secure the business's "long-term survival." Along with pointing out the "premature sunset" that its own game, Rumbleverse, went through a few years ago, it also mentioned the uncertain times in the gaming business.

Iron Galaxy's layoffs follow an expansion in which the Chicago-based business opened a new office in the US, with reports of another one in the works. In June 2024, the group responsible for Uncharted's PC ports opened a second studio site in Nashville, Tennessee, expanding their portfolio. In the months prior, there had been rumors that Iron Galaxy may eventually consider opening an office in Austin, Texas. Iron Galaxy's aim on becoming a prolific game port producer hasn't changed, even though plans to establish another studio location may have changed since then.
