We now have our six teams at the Intel Extreme Masters Chengdu Playoff after some intense moments of ups and downs in group stages. The final day of the group stages saw Faze Clan send Cloud9 home in a dominating fashion, while FlyQuest took down Nemiga Gaming before losing to Faze in the lower bracket finals.

Playoffs Format Overview

All matches will be in a single-elimination bracket with the best of three rounds. G2 Esports will face Virtus. pro, while Team Liquid will go against Faze Clan in the quarterfinals. MOUZ and Astralis secured a spot in the semifinals for securing the top spot in their respective groups.

Both of the teams will be waiting for the winners of the quarterfinals. There will be no second chances here, are the losing team will be returning straight home. The winner of IEM Chengdu will secure a spot in the IEM Cologne 2024.

Things about to get heated in the Playoffs

Team Liquid had a very decent run in the group stages, taking down HEROIC and G2 Esports. While Liquid did manage to make it into the Playoffs, their run in the group stage final was disrupted by MOUZ following a dominating victory thanks to Jimpphat.

Now the team will be facing Faze, who also had a bit of a rocky run but managed to make it into the Playoffs after defeating Cloud9 and FlyQuest. Liquid’s new form has given fans hope once again, However, a few others think it’s a fluke.

While the current roster for Liquid boasts some great players, going head-on against the current best Counter-Strike team will most likely be a bit rough.

Fans are also expecting an intense match between Virtus. pro and G2. Their last matchup at the PGL Copenhagen Major went tragic to VP as James encountered a bug post plant causing a game crash and leading to the round loss.

This ultimately resulted in the map loss, leading to the decider map, which they also lost, knocking VP out of the Major. It was an unfortunate thing to happen and fans hope the team gets justice in the upcoming match.
