Things are getting heated at Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Chengdu. Astralis and Virtus. Pro have now made their way to the upper bracket finals of Group B and qualified for the playoffs.

G2 Esports and Heroic have bested their opponents in the lower bracket semifinals in Group A while Team Liquid is set to face MOUZ in the upper bracket finals. While both will qualify for the playoff, it remains to be seen if Liquid will keep up their win streak. After all, the team seems in good shape after missing the PGL Copenhagen Major.

Astralis and Virtus.pro make their way to the Playoffs

On the other side, Astralis defeated Faze after a dominating run and sent them to face off Cloud9 in the lower brackets. Dev1ce is leading Astralis as the IGL and has been showing results both in gameplay and leadership.

Virtus.pro also managed to take a win over FlyQuest, although it didn't come as easily as one would expect. FlyQuest put up a great performance but messed up an easy victory on map 1 costing them the entire game during overtime. They did manage to bounce back in the second map but faced a hard time in the decider, which led Virtus.pro to their victory.

Faze is currently facing Cloud9, while FlyQuest is going against Nemiga Gaming. Winners will move to the lower brackets final for a chance to qualify for the Playoffs.

G2 or HEROIC, one returns home

After losing their initial match to Liquid, Heroic defeated 9z and Furia to reach the lower bracket finals. Their recent match against Furia did see some intense moments, but the team managed to be the best at them and stay alive for another day.

G2 on the other hand joined a bit later but also came after facing a loss from Liquid. In an interview, with HLTV, IGL for G2, HooXi revealed that the team did not have much time to practice before IEM Chengdu. This could also factor in as one of the reasons for the off-performance of the team.
