The Intel Extreme Masters Chengdu 2024 is set to commence in a few days, and all 16 teams and their opening matchups are now revealed. Over the course of a week, teams will fight out to get the top cut of the $250,000 prize pool.

The winner of the IEM Chengdu will take home $100,000. Securing the top spot in the tournament will also pave the way for one team to secure their spot at IEM Cologne 2024 which will be featuring a much larger prize pool of $1 million.

Group Stage

The group stage matches will begin on April 8 with teams divided into two groups of eight in a double-elimination format. Each team will start their run from the upper brackets, with the losing teams dropping to the lower brackets.

The opening matches will be best of one, while all other matches till the group stage finals will be best of three. Here are all the teams and their opening matchups -

  • Group A

G2 Esports Vs 9z Team

HEROIC Vs Team Liquid

FURIA Esports Vs Lynn Vision

  • Group B

Playoffs

The top three teams from each group will move forward to the playoffs in a single-elimination bracket. The winner of the grand finals in each group will get a direct spot in the semifinals, while the two runner-ups will start from the quarterfinals. All matches here will be best of three.

Complexity and M80 were the original two teams that received the initial invitation to the tournament. However, due to Visa issues, both of the teams withdrew their invites. Team Liquid and Wildcard Gaming have now replaced them as participants.

A few of the popular teams like NaVi, Spirit and Vitality are also going to miss IEM Chengdu. Spirit was reportedly not invited to the tournament, however, for them, it does not matter as they have already secured a spot at IEM Cologne after their win at IEM Katowice. NaVi and Vitality on the other hand did receive an invitation but declined.

Steel Helmet will be replacing Monte Esports at the IEM Chengdu 2024 after Monte suffered some travel issues in the final moments. Astralis will now be facing Steel Helmet in the opening match for Group B on April 8.
