Many say players need natural talent to get better at a video game, while others argue that factors like the internet and better gaming equipment play an important role. While it is undeniable that the ability to under video game mechanics is a very important skill, when it comes to esports, players with better reactions or knowledge about the game will come out on top.

However, the things that allow them to fully utilize their potential are the external factors or the gaming equipment they are using. Having a proper setup will go a long way and bring the best out of any player, who is serious about making esports as a career.

So how does someone choose what’s best for them? This also depends on various factors, but in general, there are some standards that everyone follows and considers necessary while choosing equipment for esports gaming.

Here are the things to keep in mind while choosing the game equipment -

6. Keyboard

For fps games, the keyboard is used for movement or cast abilities in some games while in MOBA titles, the same is mainly used to cast your abilities. In all these cases, the players require faster response as soon as the button is pressed. For that, a mechanical keyboard is the best and the most common choice for gamers.

A mechanical keyboard comes with different types of switches, but usually, any will do much better than a membrane keyboard. Mechanical keyboards also allow players to replace any key, which is not possible in the membrane keyboard. There are also optical keyboards on the market which have the best response time but are also quite expensive compared to mechanical ones.

5. Mouse

The Mouse may sound simple, but it is as important as the keyboard, allowing aiming and shooting in multiplayer games and movement in MOBA. To have the best aim, players need to have a mouse they are comfortable using. Something that is lightweight and goes well while holding, as everyone has different sizes of palms.

Furthermore, players also need to make sure the mouse features the option to change DPI, preferably to a custom one that works well with the players and at least 1000Hz of polling rate as the higher it is, the less delay in input and its movement. There are nice features even more polling rate, but aren’t necessary. Similar to the keyboard, mouses are also available in the optical variant that further reduces the risk of double-clicking.

4. Monitor

If the monitor is cheap and cannot display all the frames your PC is pushing out, players can be at a heavy disadvantage in gaming. Unlike movies that look good at 24 fps, video games require high fps. The higher, the better, but as a standard, players should at least play games with over 100 fps and for that they will need a monitor that can output all those frames.

Usually, it is best to have a monitor with a 144Hz display as most esports titles are played on low settings where they can push out over 200fps for any decent build machine. Having more frames makes the game feel much smoother and even gives players an advantage against others playing on lower frames. Although the advantage is very small, it can be crucial in some situations.

3. Chair

For players who are planning to get on longer gaming sessions, a comfortable chair is a must. And by that, we do not mean the gaming chair that is promoted to gamers by every second company. While these chairs may be an upgrade to your wooden chair, they can get expensive. A better option that anyone will suggest in the gaming community is getting an office chair.

The office chairs are made for a longer duration of work and will be much better for posture and comfort for gamers. The best part is that many office chairs provide the same features as gaming chairs, minus the bells and whistles.

2. Headset

Audio in esports games is a very crucial element that helps a player locate enemy footsteps and gunfire through directional sound, allowing them to react and take advantage. Sure, players can play with the earphones, but using a headset is a must for competitive games.

Apart from audio, the headset also enables communication with teammates. All headsets generally come with a built-in microphone that is very helpful while playing team-based games that have voice chat. Letting other players know where the opponent enables map knowledge and making a counter plan accordingly.

1. PC

The holy grail of gaming, your PC is also equipment or rather made of different equipment that can affect the game you play. Most AAA games usually require gamers to keep up with relative hardware requirements. However, in the case of Esports games, players have a good wiggle room, but that does not mean one can rock a potato and get a fine performance.

As competitive games do not require much, players can usually get away with two or even three-generation older graphics cards and 4-6-core processors. Players can make do with just 16 GB RAM and for storage, an SSD is recommended for any game.
