Greg Reisdorf, the Call of Duty multiplayer creative director, announced his departure from Sledgehammer Games following 15 years of employment there. Reisdorf worked on every Call of Duty game created by Sledgehammer Games, beginning with the 2011 release of the first Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Established in Foster City, California, on July 21, 2009, Sledgehammer Games launched their first Call of Duty game, Modern Warfare 3, two years later.
The most recent Call of Duty titles from the studio, which has collaborated with Treyarch, Infinity Ward, and Raven Software, are the enduringly popular Call of Duty: Warzone and 2024's Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Greg Reisdorf announced on Twitter on January 13 that he had departed Sledgehammer Games on January 10 after working at the Call of Duty studio for 15 years. In the thread, he listed many of his experiences and achievements as a developer. After creating the campaign mission for the Scorched Earth in 2011's Modern Warfare 3, Reisdorf started to advance through the ranks of Sledgehammer Games.
Greg Reisdorf worked on more than 20 modes,
Reisdorf describes the scene in which Soap is riding a gurney during the Blood Brothers campaign mission as "one of the most fun and chaotic moments" he worked on, and it is among his most famous creations from Modern Warfare 3. Reisdorf helped develop the gameplay systems of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, such as boost jumps, dodging, and tactical reloads, and he worked on multiplayer maps, energy weapons, and unique weapon signatures.
However, he was ambivalent about the "Pick 13" system, as he feels that streaks are rewards that shouldn't affect necessary items like primary and secondary weapons. During Modern Warfare 3's year of post-launch support, Reisdorf worked on more than 20 modes, and he expressed anticipation for what comes next after Call of Duty, indicating that he will continue to work in the gaming industry.
