Group stage matches for groups A and B at the ESL Pro League S19 have concluded and G2 esports alongside Virtus.pro have managed to make their way to the playoffs. However, both teams will be starting from the bottom of the barrel and will have to work much harder moving forward.

Both teams saw huge setbacks early on and the losses kept rolling on, landing both of them in the last-chance qualifier bracket. VP was sent to the lower brackets after losing to Fnatic and Faze, while G2 saw back-to-back losses from The MongolZ and M80.

VP makes a comeback

With elimination looming over their head, the VP managed to get hold of themselves and faced Fnatic again. This time, VP managed to come out on top, with Jame and FL1T making themselves plenty useful in multiple clutch situations.

Their qualifier match against SAW, however, went by pretty quickly. VP was also the one who sent SAW into the lower brackets. Both teams played the same maps, but this time, the scoreline for them was reversed. Previously, the VP struggled with Vertigo and managed to breeze through the Overpass. However, this time, Vertigo went by pretty quickly while Overpass was a bit sweaty.

G2 survives brutal elimination threat

G2 esports on the other hand were having consistent performance issues. With top players like NiKo struggling to get a form, m0nesy was the one who stepped up. However, it wasn't enough as G2 saw some harsh losses against tier 2 teams.

The team picked themselves up in the lower brackets after defeating Team Falcons and M80. Although they did struggle in the beginning, the end result was in their favour with other players in G2 finally managing to put up a decent performance.

With this, we now have eight teams from groups A and B qualifying for the Playoffs. Astralis and Team Vitality have received a direct spot in the semifinals. Matches for groups C and D begin April 30.
