Life is Strange: Double Exposure had a rough launch marred with criticism which mostly came regarding the narrative choices in the game. The game had a mixed reaction and judging how Square Enix wants to know the reason from players themselves, it likely did not do as well as expected in terms of sales numbers.

This game was quite hyped ahead of its release bringing back a key character, Max Caulfield, from the series in a completely new story. Square already has a lot of successful IPs like Final Fantasy and while Life is Strange also started as one of the beloved games, over the years, its popularity diminished with every new installment.

The premise of the game was good, and so were the initial chapters, however, things started to go downhill real soon. The story felt rushed leaving players disjointed and wondering what was happening, the same was the case for the conclusion with a weak ending. A big reason is likely the standard set by the first few installments in the series.

Square Enix looking for answers

Now that the dust has settled, Square Enix seems to be determined to find out what led to the failure of the game. In a questionnaire sent to people, the company is looking for feedback regarding the game and want to find out the key areas players had issues with.

As of now, the game has a mixed reception across various platforms, and the questionnaire wants to know what people did not like including the story, gameplay mechanics, technical performance, and consumer satisfaction for Life is Strange: Double Exposure which is a good start.

Furthermore, a survey like this means that the company is willing to listen and improve upon their mistakes, which in turn means that there will be more games in the series. Maybe gamers will see more returning characters or it could be another branching story in the franchise.
