Supercell has now announced some big changes to its season pass starting the next season in October. The old Gold Pass is removed and replaced with the Diamond Pass, while also improving rewards in the free option. As per the official statement, this was done to simplify the user interface and allow better rewards for free users.
The purchase of Gold Pass through the Supercell store has been disabled, but players can still get it via the in-game shop. After an update on October 2nd, the purchase option for the Gold Pass from the in-game shop will also be disabled starting October 7. During this time, those who have the pass can continue progressing.

What are the changes in Diamond Pass and Free Pass?
As per Supercell having multiple tiers in Pass Royale got confusing so the Gold Pass is entirely ditched leaving only the free tier, and the premium tier. The price for Diamond Pass will remain the same at $11.99 but will feature higher-tier chests like Royal Wild Chest and Legendary King’s Chest, alongside exclusive skin and emote.
As for the free pass users, players will now get another evolution shard for free. One was previously available in the shop, while the other one can be acquired through Royal Pass. They will also get an Animated banner alongside Lucky Drops that will allow players to gain better rewards as they progress through the season.
As of now, it seems that the most someone will benefit from the changes are free players, who will be getting evolution shards and other rewards. However, those who used to buy Gold Pass will have to up their budget. Players who previously stacked multiple Gold Passes will be compensated in Diamonds.
