A relatively new video game development studio based in the United Kingdom, ‘10:10 Games’ has now cut 20 jobs. This comes months after the studio published its first-ever game ‘Funko Fusion’ last year. To make things worse, the employees were promised help from the management during this transition which unfortunately hasn’t happened yet.

“Management seemed very keen to wrap up the process quickly, and despite saying that they were fully open to suggestions and feedback, none of it has been taken on board,” one of the sources said as per a report by Insider Gaming who spoke to multiple affected employees to get a better picture on the matter.

The process happened so quickly that many employees were notified while on leave. Affected employees were also provided no severance and only compensation for unused holidays which was a second slap to the face for those on leave.

Funko Fusion’s failed launch resulted in layoffs

The sources cited Funko Fusion as a “complete commercial and critical failure” and the reason for these layoffs. After the failure of a big IP, the 10:10 Games were unable to secure proper funding for future projects leading to this situation.

Only two months into 2025, industrywide layoffs across gaming studios have already started picking up. Recently, Ubisoft also shuttered a studio affecting 180 employees while Electronic Arts gutted BioWare leaving less than 100 developers working on the next Mass Effect game.

Why did Funko Fusion fail?

Released back in September 2024, Funko Fusion launched to a mixed rating and even lower sales. The general complaints regarding the game from fans revealed optimization issues and the lack of proper co-op features in most of the missions when the game was advertised as such. Furthermore, the game also did not have much marketing which also left a huge part of the gaming audience unaware of the release.
