The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made a T20I team who have approached an aggressive batting style and have almost succeeded in it. However, there are some players in the team, like Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson, who failed to perform in the ongoing England series. Some former players have questioned their performance so far. Speaking about India's batting approach, former cricketer Aakash Chopra, on his YouTube channel, slammed the batters for going after the bowler from the first ball.
"When you see Sanju Samson's four consecutive failures, you feel that he can play one ball cautiously as well. However, that's not the team's philosophy. When you see Suryakumar Yadav, you say why he is hitting like that when he isn't in form, and that he should take a little time," said Aakash Chopra in his YouTube video.
Samson last scored a century in South Africa but hasn't contributed significantly in the ongoing England series. However, SKY hasn't performed in a long time now. Since the team is winning the series, his failure gets hidden in the process.
His self-confidence will also grow: Piyush Chawla
Former cricketer Piyush Chawla spoke about captain Suryakumar Yadav and how runs have dried up for the player in the T20Is. As per the skipper, it's his responsibility to score runs in the middle order, which will help the team get to 200+ runs. SKY is an excellent batter and has the ability in him to score runs. He will surely try to score runs in the last game in Mumbai.
"He is a very important player, he is the captain, and we haven't seen him remain quiet in T20Is for so long. The kind of phase he is going through at the moment, he needs one knock of 20 or 30 runs. His self-confidence will also grow and it will be good for the team as well. So no idea about the 200, but I will want to see runs from Surya's bat. However, if runs come from Surya's bat, the 200-run mark will anyway be touched because of the strike rate at which he bats," said Piyush Chawla.
