The mega auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 saw some names getting a huge amount while there were also some big names who went unsold. One of the players who no one thought to go unsold was the young 26-year-old opening batter, Prithvi Shaw.
Prithvi kept his starting price at just 75 lakhs but still no team made a bid on him. Prithvi had played for DC in some editions of the IPL and surprisingly even his former franchise decided to let go of him. Meanwhile, former Delhi Capitals coach Mohammed Kaif talked about Prithvi and revealed how the franchise continued to back him but he failed.

"DC backed Prithvi a lot because the management thought that he was a good batter to bat in the powerplay, with the ability to hit 6 fours in an over and hit once off Shivam Mavi. They kept thinking that if he performed well, they'd win the game. The management, along with Ricky Ponting, sat in meetings multiple times to discuss whether they should play Prithvi or not. However, now he should move on and work on his batting. No team made a bid for him, which is quite embarrassing, so he should go back and score in domestic cricket."
Delhi Capitals ticked all their boxes during the auction
Talking about DC, they have found a new captain in the face of KL Rahul who was sold to the franchise for 14 crores. Many experts and fans believe that it is a great steal deal as they were eying a solid captain and got one at a decent price. Apart from him, they also got Mitchell Starc, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Faf du Plessis and some other decent steals.
