Indian Cricket Team moved one step closer to the qualifications for World Test Championship finals. The home team were set a target of 95 runs to win the game and take the series 2-0. It is a dramatic turnaround as the match was seemingly headed for a draw after over two days were lost due to rain.
Earlier in the day, Bangladesh were all out for 146 in 47 overs with a lead of 94. Shadman Islam was the best batter for Bangladesh with 50 off 101 balls. Mushfiqur Rahim scored 37 before he was the last man out for the visiting side.

Jasprit Bumrah picked 3/17 from 10 overs with the key wicket of Rahim to end Bangladesh’ innings. Ravindra Jadeja and R. Ashwin picked 3 wickets each, while Akash Deep picked the key scalp of Shadman Islam.
India coasts home to easy win just before tea on final day
Needing 95 runs to win, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal added 18 runs for the 1st wicket in 2 overs. Mehidy Hasan Miraz had India’s skipper caught at square leg region for 8 runs off 7 balls with one four. Shubman Gill was out soon after when he was trapped LBW for 6 to give Miraz his 2nd wicket.
Virat Kohli came out to bat and added 58 runs for the 3rd wicket in 67 balls with Jaiswal. India’s opener scored his 2nd fifty of the game before he was out for 51. Taijul Islam enticed Jaiswal to go for a big hit as the batter obliged and was caught by Shakib Al Hasan.

Jaiswal’s knock of 51 came off 45 balls with 8 fours and a six. At that stage, India just needed 3 runs to win. The win for India came when Rishabh Pant hit the left-arm spinner for a four. The home team got to the target with 7 wickets in hand and over 40 overs left to play in the day.
New Zealand are the next opponents for India with the first match slated to be played on 16th October. Post the series against the Kiwis, the tour of Australia beckons with five Test matches set to be played. Clean sweep against New Zealand will ensure India qualify for the WTC finals in the top two spot.
