Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his good form in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, as he batted well in the first innings of the Edgbaston Test and scored 87 runs in 107 balls, before getting dismissed by Ben Stokes. The Southpaw batted well and gave his side a good start and played a fluent knock.
England won the toss and elected to bowl first in Birmingham on an overcast morning. However, with the progression of the day, sun came out and became good for batting. There was a bit of movement through the air and off the surface, and Chris Woakes made a lot out of it, by getting rid of KL Rahul.

England nearly dismissed Karun Nair early and troubled the batters for the first hour. Since then, India continued to score runs at a fine pace despite losing wickets from the other end. While Nair played some exquisite cover drives, Jaiswal played the cut shots through the square region well.
Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant steady the Indian innings in Edgbaston Test
The Indian opener played fine cover and on drives and played the pacers well. The likes of Stokes, Brydon Carse, and Josh Tongue all operated at a good pace and threatened the batters in the middle. However, the star batter looked comfortable in the middle and seemed set for a big knock. Unfortunately, Jaiswal was denied a hundred by Stokes.

The English skipper bowled a wide delivery and induced the outside edge of Jaiswal, as Jamie Smith made no mistake and grabbed the catch. After scoring 101 and 4 in the first Test at Headingley, Jaiswal scored 87 in the first innings at Edgbaston. Since his dismissal, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant have steadied the Indian innings till 182/3 after 53 overs.
