Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are taking on the defending IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in a rare double header on a weekday in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Both sides are coming into the game on the back of a win in their previous matches. LSG beat Mumbai Indians by 12 runs at home while KKR beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 80 runs.

Rishabh Pant was asked by Danny Morrison if he was happy with the start to the IPL 2025 campaign. Pant said, “Wouldn't say very happy. Not thinking about the past too much. Will take the positives and move forward. As a team we are winning and as a captain I am happy”.

It was KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane who won the toss and chose to bowl first. The home team made one change to their line-up as Spencer Johnson was back in the side for Moeen Ali. Lucknow went in with the same team that had won the home game against Mumbai Indians last Friday.

Chance to continue winning momentum for both sides

Speaking at the toss, Ajinkya Rahane said, “We are going to bowl first. The wicket looks really good, it's not that hot. The wicket won't change much. One side boundary is small, that's why we are bowling first. Everyone is looking forward to this game. This game is all about starting fresh, need to take the positives, need to take one step at a time”

Ahead of the game, KKR were slotted in the fifth spot while Lucknow are placed sixth. The winner of the game will get to six points and will head into the top four spots in the points table. Both KKR and Lucknow have displayed inconsistent form so far this year and will want to perform better.

The focus will be on Mitchell Marsh, who comes out to open the batting along with Aiden Markram. The Australian star has already hit three fifties from four games so far this IPL 2025 campaign. Nicholas Pooran will be another batter to watch out for as he sits pretty at the top of the run-scoring charts with 201 runs so far this season.
