Match number 63 in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season is set to witness a huge game at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday night. A win for MI will guarantee their passage into the playoffs, while a win for DC will make things interesting going into the final round of matches.

Pre-monsoon showers hit Mumbai on Tuesday, creating uncertainty about the game taking place on Wednesday night. There is some good news for fans, though, as the radar suggests a clear day. It is expected to be a humid day in the park for players, with the temperature set to hover around 30-32 degrees.

There is one concern, though, as there is rain predicted post 11PM local time. Both teams will have to work out on the DLS calculator if it starts raining towards the end of the game. Mumbai’s game against Gujarat Titans was also marred by rain and eventually it was the Titans who won the last-ball thriller.

DC owner requests BCCI to shift MI vs DC game

ESPN Cricinfo reported that Delhi Capitals’ owner Parth Jindal has requested the MI vs DC game be shifted out of Mumbai due to a potential rain threat. The request comes after the Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Sunrisers Hyderabad game was shifted. RCB and SRH will play their game at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow due to torrential weather in Bengaluru.

According to ESPN Cricinfo, Mr Jindal had written an e-mail to the BCCI which read, “The forecast in Mumbai is for heavy rains and there is a strong likelihood that the game will be washed out.” Mr Jindal went on to write, “Just as the game between RCB and SRH has been moved out of Bengaluru in the quest for consistency and in the interest of the league, it is my request that tomorrow's game also be moved to a different location, as we have known for the better part of 6 days that the forecast for the 21st in Mumbai is for heavy showers."

Mumbai Indians have 14 points from 12 games and need to win the encounter to make it to the playoffs. Their spot in the final four will be secure even if they lose their final game to Punjab Kings. For Delhi Capitals, a win over Mumbai will take them to 15 points ahead of their final game, which is also against PBKS. In such a scenario, MI will have to beat Punjab and hope that Delhi loses their game to Shreyas Iyer’s side to make it to the playoffs.
