Delhi Capitals (DC) are getting ready for the resumption of the IPL 2025 season, which kicks off on Saturday, 17th May. Afghanistan batter Sediqullah Atal has joined DC for the rest of the season, having replaced Harry Brook just a week ago. It is to be noted that Brook had pulled out of the IPL 20256 season and has been banned by the BCCI for two years. Atal has been considered one of the best young batting talents from Afghanistan.

The 24-year-old was playing first-class cricket in Afghanistan prior to making his trip to India. Atal has played a total of 49 T20 games, out of which nine have come on the international stage. The addition of the young batter will be a huge boost for Delhi, considering Jake Fraser-McGurk is also missing the final few games of the season.

Mustafizur Rahman is set to play for DC, having obtained a short No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Bangladesh Cricket Board. The left-arm seamer will be enjoying his stint with Delhi and will want to help Axar Patel and his side reach the playoffs. Faf du Plessis and Tristan Stubbs have joined the squad after days of uncertainty over their availability.

Is KL Rahul set to open for Delhi Capitals?

Times of India are reporting that veteran Indian batter KL Rahul is set to open the batting for Delhi Capitals in the final few games of the season. TOI reported that Delhi Capitals are keen to have Rahul open the batting to make better use of the powerplay overs. Before this, Faf du Plessis, Abhishek Porel, Karun Nair, and Jake Fraser-McGurk had opened the batting. Rahul himself has opened the batting once this season for DC.

Delhi Capitals will kick off their final leg of IPL 2025 with the game against Gujarat on Sunday. This will be followed by a visit to Mumbai on Wednesday and finishing their season with a replayed game against Punjab next week. Delhi started the season with four successive wins to go top of the table before suffering a loss in form.

Mitchell Starc is set to be a huge loss for DC after the veteran seamer confirmed his unavailability for the rest of the campaign. Starc is set to focus on the upcoming World Test Championship Final for Australia against South Africa.
