Finally, in a shocking piece of news for the fans, the veteran RCB wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik called it a time in his IPL career. He made his last appearance in IPL career in the Eliminator of the ongoing IPL 2024, in which RCB lost by 4 wickets against RR and was eliminated from the tournament.

Coming back to Dinesh Karthik, he scored 11 runs off 13 balls, with one four in his last IPL appearance. However, he had an amazing season with the bat in the ongoing IPL 2024, scoring 326 runs in 13 innings, including 4 not-outs, having an average of 36.22 and a brilliant strike rate of 187.35, hitting 2 half-centuries.

Earlier in the beginning phase of IPL 2024, Karthik was also seen as a potential contender for the wicketkeeper-batter for India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. However, the selection of the team showed that the selectors had moved on from DK.

Looking at the illustrious 16-year-long IPL career so far across 17 seasons, Karthik played a total of 257 matches, scoring 4842 runs with an average of 26.32, scoring 22 half-centuries with the bat.

RR knocks RCB out of the IPL 2024

Speaking of the Eliminator between RR and RCB, the former won the toss and asked RCB to bat first; batting first, RCB posted a total of 172 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar played the knocks of 33 and 34 runs, respectively, alongside 27 and 32 runs scored by Cameron Green and Mahipal Lomror.

While chasing the target, Rajasthan Royals comfortably crossed the line in 19 overs, scoring 174 runs for the loss of 6 wickets and won the match by 4 wickets to cut the second qualifier against SRH.
