Skipper Cummins was quick to opt for the review as the batter looked at the big screen. When the replays came on it was seen that the snicko-meter hadn’t shown any edge off the bat. This caused a massive cheer in the Indian section as they felt that Jaiswal had survived the close call.

The third umpire though used the zoom-in feature and there was a feather touch off Jaiswal’s gloves. This was enough for the TV umpire to ask the on-field officials to overturn the decision. Australia celebrated wildly as they got the biggest wicket of the day to put themselves on the cusp of a huge win.

After the decision to overturn the decision came about and the batter was given out, Yashasvi Jaiswal was far from happy. The left-handed batter could be seen having a stern word with the umpires. Both the officials seemed to say something to Jaiswal as he looked back and replied while walking back to the hut.

Jaiswal had batted valiantly to score 84 runs in what was his second fifty of the game. in the first innings, the 23-year-old had scored 82 before he was run out. Team India had headed to lunch at 33/3 having lost Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul. The visitors didn’t lose a single wicket in the next session.

Both Rishabh Pant and Jaiswal batted well to keep the Aussie bowlers at bay. The duo added 107 runs for the 4th wicket before tragedy struck. Travis Head bowled a short ball which Pant tried to pull for a boundary. Mitchell Marsh made good ground and took a brilliant catch to send Pant back to the dugout for 30.

Scott Boland then got the wicket of Ravindra Jadeja for 2 as the ball reared off the length. Alex Carey took an easy catch as India lost their fifth wicket, it was the turn of centurion Nitish Reddy who was caught by Steve Smith in the slips for 1 run. This was Nathan Lyon’s first wicket of the innings as the Aussies celebrated with Jaiswal standing as the lone guard.
