Former England cricket star James Anderson had registered himself for the Indian Premier League (IPL) Auction 2025. The 42-year-old had retired from the game earlier this year with his final Test match coming against West India at Lord’s in July. The former England pacer had stated his intention to play a few more years and wanted to play in the IPL.
In a shocking move many fans didn’t see the English pace legend’s name not come up for bidding. It was expected that Anderson will come into bidding during the 2nd day of the IPL Auctions. That didn’t happen because none of the teams had included Anderson’s name in the accelerated process. After the initial 116 names were bid for, the auction moved into the accelerated process.
It was widely expected that Anderson will not be picked even if his name was called for bidding. One of the reasons stated was due to the fact that Anderson hasn’t played T20 cricket for a long time. This ends Anderson’s hopes of playing in the biggest league in the world at age of 42.
