Akash Ambani was taken by happiness when he was able to buy Will Jacks for Mumbai Indians. The 26-year-old England star was purchased for INR 5.25 Crores by the five-time winners during the second day of the Indian Premier League (IPL) auctions on Monday.

Many fans on social media were left awestruck by RCB’s decision not to go for Jacks as he was their player last season. Will Jacks made an instant impact for Royal Challengers Bengaluru with his brutal batting during the IPL 2024 season. Jacks scored a brutal century against Gujarat Titans and helped RCB win the game by 9 wickets.

It is to be noted that the IPL 2024 season was Will Jacks’ debut season. In the 8 games he played, Jacks scored 230 runs from 8 matches with one fifty and one century. His strike rate last year was 175 with an average of 31 and the English star also picked 2 wickets with the ball.

Did Mumbai Indians pull off the best deal of IPL Auctions 2025?

Buying Will Jacks for INR 5.75 crores is indeed a huge steal for Mumbai Indians. The 26-year-old has been one of the most feared players in the T20 format. While his numbers in the T20I format for England have been less than satisfactory, Jacks’s numbers in franchise cricket have been great.

One of the biggest reasons why Jacks is a huge buy for Mumbai is due to the fact that they haven’t replaced Kieron Pollard till now. Tim David was expected to fill the role but the Australian star failed to do the job for Mumbai. This eventually saw David get released by the team ahead of the IPL 2025 auctions.

Adding Jacks to the team has given Mumbai the much-needed firepower in the middle order. The 26-year-old can be used as a floater in the batting order as Jacks can play as an opener and also in the middle order. Hardik Pandya and Mahela Jayawardene will want such a player to add more steel to the team. Apart from his batting, Jacks can also bowl off-spin and has picked 60 wickets with a best of 4/15 with an economy of 7.38.
