Delhi Capitals' bowler Mohit Sharma revealed the conversation he had with Hardik Pandya and other teammates after losing the finals of the IPL 2023 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Mohit played for Gujarat Titans (GT) in 2023, where he bowled the final over of the game. CSK needed ten runs in two balls when Ravindra Jadeja hit a maximum and a boundary and won the fifth title for the team.
"What happened in talks with Hardik, Ashish Nehra, Vikram Solanki, and all the players of the team? Everyone said that it was not in our destiny. If we play 100 out of 100, then maybe we will win 95 times and lose only 5 times. So the scenario of losing 5 times, let’s name it destiny and cut the bill, because why get so worried?" said Mohit Sharma during an interview.
Gujarat Titans were at the top of the table but still couldn't win the finals. It was indeed a heartbreaking moment for the GT team. However, CSK won their fifth trophy in 2023 but failed to qualify for the playoffs in 2024.
We are looking like a very good unit: Mohit Sharma
Mohit Sharma was bought by the Delhi Capitals (DC) for INR 2.2 crores at the IPL mega auction 2024. The bowler spoke about the team, the combinations, and the kind of players they have. He also mentioned that DC looks strong on paper, but they aren't sure whether it will be the same on the field or not.
"On paper, yes (we look strong). But after going to the ground, we will know how we can perform as a unit and how we can execute our plans. I don’t follow the story on paper because it is a totally different scenario. If you look at the top 10 teams, you will find all of them good. We are looking like a very good unit. But at the same time, I will say again that yes, you will have to execute your plans somewhere," added Mohit.
