India are playing against Australia in the first semi-final of the Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai. The game started on a good note for India as Mohammed Shami dismissed opener Cooper Connolly in the third over. Post that, India's real nightmare, Travis Head, started hitting boundaries with ease. However, his terror didn't stay for a long time as mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy dismissed him in the second ball of the ninth over.
Varun played around Head's weakness and got the desired results. The ball was tossed up, and Head softly lofted it in the air, only for Shubman Gill to take the catch. Gill ran from the long-off to take the catch. The players, as well as the crowd, were happy as everybody was aware of Head's batting.

Why did umpires talk to Shubman Gill?
After taking Head's catch, Shubman Gill threw the ball within seconds, without holding it for some time. As per the rules, the fielder has to take the catch and hold it for 5-10 seconds for the umpires to be sure that the catch was completed. Since Gill didn't do it, on-field umpire Richard Illingworth had a chat with him after the wicket. Gill agreed with what the umpire said, and the conversation ended.
India are going strong in the game, taking three wickets in 23 overs. The game started with Shami taking the first wicket, and then Varun Chakaravarthy removed the dangerous Travis Head. The third wicket was taken by Ravindra Jadeja, who dismissed Marnus Labuschagne in the 23rd over.
However, Australia have batted well until now as they have reached 120 runs in 24 overs. The Indian bowlers are on the right track,k and a few more wickets will slow the game. Moreover, Steven Smith and Josh Inglis are on the crease. They have had a good tournament, so a wicket is extremely important for India at this point.
