On the fifth and the last day of the Headingley Test, the players from both the Indian cricket team and England are wearing black armbands. Both sides were mourning the loss of the former Indian cricketer, Dilip Doshi, who passed away on Monday. Both teams had worn black armbands on the first and third days of the Test as well, for different reasons.

Doshi was a highly talented bowler who got a chance to play for India after crossing the age of 30. His debut was delayed due to the presence of Bishan Bedi on the side. However, he shone in his very first match by taking a fifer, the fourth Indian bowler to achieve the feat. Dilip claimed 114 wickets in 33 Tests and made a name for himself.

Sachin Tendulkar, Ravi Shastri, Farokh Engineer, Anil Kumble, and others mourned the loss of the former Indian spinner. "Always immaculate, a gentleman to the core and a fine, fine bowler. Heartfelt condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace. Really sad to hear about the passing of Dilip Doshi," Ravi Shastri remembered his former teammate.

"I met Dilip bhai for the first time in the UK in 1990, and he bowled to me in the nets on that tour. He was really fond of me, and I reciprocated his feelings. A warm-hearted soul like Dilip bhai will be deeply missed. I will miss those cricketing conversations that we invariably had. May his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti," Tendulkar posted on X.

"I couldn't believe it when I first heard. He was a dear friend. When he first came to England, he stayed with me for a while. Extremely sad news. Our sincerest condolences to Kalindhi (Doshi's wife) and his family. RIP, my dear friend," Farokh Engineer expressed.

"Heartbreaking to hear about Dilip bhai's passing. May God give strength to his family and friends to bear this loss. Nayan, thinking of you buddy," Kumble expressed his concerns. Along with them, former Indian cricketers like Pragyan Ojha, Manoj Tiwary, Parthiv Patel, Harbhajan Singh, the BCCI President, Roger Binny, and others expressed their condolences.

Similar to the fifth day, the Indian and the English players had worn black armbands on the first and the third day of the Headingley Test. On the first day, it was to pay tribute to the lives lost in the Ahmedabad Plane Crash. On the third day, it was in the memory of David Lawrence, the former English cricketer, who passed away at the age of 61.
