KKR defeated the Delhi Capitals by 14 runs in the 48th game of the ongoing IPL 2024 to keep their hopes alive in the tournament. The game was played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday, April 29. The hosts’ skipper won the toss and asked KKR to bat first. Batting first, the visitors posted a big total of 204 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Rinku Singh scored 44 and 36 runs for KKR in the first innings, alongside 27 runs scored by opener Sunil Narine. Apart from these three, wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz and skipper Ajinkya Rahane also scored 26 runs each. Mitchell Starc scalped 3 wickets for DC, alongside 2 wickets each bagged by Vipraj Nigam and Axar Patel.
Dushmantha Chameera also picked a wicket for DC in the first innings.
While chasing the target, DC’s middle-order fumbled again against the spin brilliance of Sunil Narine, and they were restricted to a total of 190 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs, losing the game by 14 runs, to face their second successive defeat in the tournament. Sunil Narine won the ‘Player of the Match’ for his match-winning performance for KKR, scalping 3 wickets at just 29 runs in his overs.
