In just six days, the second Test match between Australia and India is set to begin. Adelaide Oval is the venue as the two sides meet each other for the Pink Ball Test match. There is good news for the visiting side as skipper Rohit Sharma is set to make his return to the playing XI. Shubman Gill who had injured his thumb before the Perth Test is also set to be back for the game.
Australian speedster Josh Hazlewood is out of the game as he is injured. Scott Boland while speaking to the media recently said, “There's definitely not panic stations in our change rooms, There's obviously going to be some chats around individual performances and everyone wants to perform really well every game they play. But yeah, it's like, we've lost one game. It's not toys out of the cot, I don't think.”
According to reports, Boland is in line to replace Hazlewood for the Adelaide Test match. The veteran pacer last played for Australia during the Ashes 2023 series in Leeds. Boland himself is coming back from few injury issues. “My body's feeling really good now. I had a couple of niggles that were a little bit sore, but knee and foot are feeling really good and I'm confident how the ball's coming out,” said Scott Boland.
Who will make way for returning Indian duo?
During the first Test match, Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul opened the innings for India. With Rohit Sharma coming back into the team, the 37-year-old can assume his role at the top of the order. Many have suggested Rohit Sharma to bat in the middle order and let Rahul continue open the batting in the next match.
Dhruv Jurel is the player who is likely to miss out after the 22-year-old failed with the bat in the Perth Test match. If Rohit Sharma opens the batting for India, then KL Rahul will be slotted at the number 6 position where he has batted for India in the last few series.
Shubman Gill is set to bat at his customary number 3 spot in the batting order. Devdutt Padikkal had a poor outing during the opening encounter. The left-handed batter scored 0 and 25 during the first game of the series in Perth. Shubman Gill will be itching to get back to the team having been in decent run scoring form prior to the tour.
