Varun Chakaravarthy: (X)
India's Varun Chakaravarthy is making his debut in the second ODI against England. He received his cap from Ravindra Jadeja before the start of the game. The spin wizard was impressive during the T20I series against England and, hence, was called for the ODI series as well. If he performs well in the 50-over game, he has a great chance of making it to the Champions Trophy squad.
Chakaravarthy has been quite effective during the middle overs, sticking to his line and length and tricking the batters. While the English batters struggled against spin, it will be interesting to see how the other batters will play him if he's selected for the Champions Trophy. Chakaravarthy replaced Kuldeep Yadav in the team as he was rested for the game.
One more piece of good news for the fans was the inclusion of Virat Kohli on the team. Yashasvi Jaiswal made way for Kohli to be back in the team. The 36-year-old player was rested in the previous game due to a knee injury. The crowd cheered out loud for the player when they heard his name during the toss time. India will be looking forward to sealing the series in this game.
Black soil pitch, not sure: Rohit Sharma
During the toss, Captain Rohit Sharma spoke about the pitch conditions and mentioned that this might not be a high-scoring game. It's a black soil pitch where the pitch will favor the bowlers more than the batters. England have chosen to bat first, so it will be interesting to see the number of runs they put up on the board.
"The energy was very good despite not being on the field for a while. It was superb to watch after losing two wickets. Shreyas prides himself on that intent and attitude and not to forget the contributions of Shubman and Axar as well. Black soil pitch, not sure. Maybe play on the slower side, that's what I expect," said Rohit Sharma.
