Team India are strengthening their preparations for the upcoming highly anticipated ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The team are currently in action in the ongoing three-match home ODI series against England. The hosts are currently leading the three-match series by a margin of 1-0 after a 4-wicket win in the first ODI in Nagpur.
Meanwhile, Indian skipper and batting stalwart, Rohit Sharma has been through a struggling run of form with the bat in the last couple of international appearances. His scores in the last 10 international innings across all formats are 2,3, 9, 10, 3, 6, 18, 11, 0, and 8.
In the same line of events, former legendary India all-rounder and former skipper, Kapil Dev came up with a big statement while speaking Team India’s preparations ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025.
“When they do badly, criticism follows” – Kapil Dev
Kapil Dev also raised concerns over skipper Rohit Sharma’s batting form ahead of the ninth edition of the ICC Champions Trophy.
“The team has not done well, it's justified that the fans are angry. When these players came back after winning the T20 World Cup, the crazy scenes, I have never seen in my life. So, when they do badly, criticism follows. That's what I say, don't praise the players so much, that they can't handle it. And then criticise them below the belt. This is my thought,” said Kapil Dev on the Cricket Adda YouTube Channel.
Furthermore, the former skipper also spoke about the dismal batting form of India skipper Rohit Sharma. He also hoped for Rohit’s return in form just before the start of the marquee international tournament in Pakistan and Dubai.
“He is a big player. I hope he returns to form quickly. I will say good luck to the coach. It takes time to settle in. The whole country is looking forward to the side's performance. In recent times, the side played well for some time. The team looks unsettled. When the captain's form is poor, the team has problems,” said Kapil Dev.
