In what seems to be a piece of pleasant news for the CSK fans, the team management might field the young South Africa batter Dewald Brevis in their playing XI for their upcoming clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The game will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday.
Brevis was signed by the five-time champions Chennai Super Kings as a replacement for the injured Gurjanpreet Singh, who was ruled out of the tournament due to injury. The young Proteas talent was signed for an amount of INR 2.2 crores by CSK for the remainder of the tournament.

Dewald Brevis likely to make his IPL debut for CSK
There are chances that Dewald Brevis might replace the out-of-form all-rounder Jamie Overton in CSK’s playing XI against SRH. He is expected to replace Overton in the capacity of the fourth overseas player in the playing XI.
Overton has failed to leave any impact in the three games he has played so far in the tournament, be it with the bat or the ball. So, he might be benched in this game to give a chance to Dewald Brevis for making his IPL debut for the yellow outfits. Speaking of Overton’s performances so far, he has failed to scalp any wickets in the three innings he got to bowl, alongside scoring 11 and 4 runs in the two batting appearances.
Coming back to Dewald Brevis, he had played for the Mumbai Indians earlier in IPL 2022 and IPL 2024. In his short IPL career, he has scored 230 runs in 10 innings, including the best performance of quick ’49 runs in a game for MI.
Besides that, the 21-year-old has some good numbers to his name in the T20 cricket, scoring 1787 runs in 76 innings, hitting a century and seven half-centuries. So, he will be a perfect pick for CSK to replace Jamie Overton in the upcoming challenge against SRH.
