The World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle has come to an end with Pakistan finishing at the end of the points table with just five wins in 14 matches. Their recent series against West Indies ended in a heartbreak as they won the first game but lost the second by 120 runs.

It was a humiliating loss because their plan of making Multan a spin track and using Noman Ali and Sajid Khan didn't work out. West Indies played it smart and brought in Jomel Warrican and Kevin Sinclair who destroyed Pakistan's batting lineup in the second Test match. After 35 years, West Indies won the Test match in Pakistan, creating history.
This has been a great year historically for West Indies but they still finished at the second-last position in the WTC cycle. It was South Africa who qualified for the WTC finals first with eight wins in 12 games. Their PCT was 69.44. Then came Australia who won the game against India and qualified for the finals.
With the series win, 3-1, they kicked out both India and Sri Lanka from the tournament. This is the first time in three years that India are out of the WTC finals race. The next cycle will begin after the WTC finals in June between South Africa and Australia.
