‘When Rohit Sharma hits form…’ - Virender Sehwag lauds Rohit Sharma after match-winning 70-run knock against SRH

Former MI skipper and the batting stalwart, Rohit Sharma, continued his blistering form in the game against SRH. He smashed a match-winning knock of 70 runs off just 46 balls, with eight fours and three sixes, to help MI chase down the target in just 15.4 overs and win the match by a big margin of 7 wickets.

Before this game, Rohit also played an unbeaten knock of 76 runs off just 45 balls against CSK to win the game for his side. It was also for the first time in last nine years when Rohit Sharma scored two consecutive half-centuries in an IPL season since 2016 edition.

Meanwhile, former India batter and now commentator Virender Sehwag lauded Rohit Sharma for his amazing run of form with the bat and brilliant 70-run knock against SRH.

Virender Sehwag also praised Rohit Sharma for maintaining his batting form against SRH, which he regained in the game against arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings.

“He’s been playing some incredible knocks lately. The last one was unbeaten, and if he’d stayed not out in this one too, it would’ve been even better—his average would’ve improved as well. But when Rohit Sharma hits form, we get to see a completely different side of him. The team’s position improves, and it gets easier for the batters to follow,” said Sehwag.

“He plays with such ease that it feels like cricket is a very simple game. Even today, it felt like that—he was hitting boundaries so effortlessly. But while it may look easy from the outside, it takes a lot of effort—choosing the right ball, selecting the right shot—he puts real thought into it, and that’s what makes him stand out. At one point, it looked like he could even get to 200,” he added later.
Notably, Rohit Sharma has been playing as an impact player for the Mumbai Indians in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2025 since the initial phase of the tournament.
