The much-awaited match between  Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru is scheduled for Friday at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium. Both sides are hoping to maintain their winning momentum after securing a winning start to the 2025 Indian Premier League season. Even though the Yellow Army has consistently dominated the match throughout the years, CSK and RBC share a rich history. The last time RBC won at Chepauk was in 2008.

In that game, Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the toss and elected to bat first. The team managed to score a total of 126 runs with the help of Rahul Davis’s 47 runs. Rahul Dravid took responsibility and took the team to a respectable score. In reply, Chennai Super Kings got a good start from opener Prathiv Patel and Stephen Fleming, as both had a partnership of 60 runs for the first wicket in the chase.

Fleming was the only player from the Chennai Super Kings side who could score 40+ runs while other batters failed to give him support in the second innings. In the end, CSK was able to reach only 112 before the overs ended, which resulted in RCB winning the game by 14 runs. This was the only time when RCB defeated CSK in their home stadium. The only players that are still active from the 2008 match are MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli.
