The Bangladesh Cricket team is stranded amid the political unrest in the nation. The team was supposed to travel to Pakistan on Wednesday to play a 2-match Test series starting on August 21. However, their travel was delayed by 48 hours. As the situation has worsened day by day, the players haven't been able to travel to another place.

After the Pakistan series, Bangladesh have to travel to India for a Test series and then will be hosting the Women's T20 World Cup 2024. As the uncertainty rises with each passing day, one crucial question arises regarding Bangladesh's travel: What happens if they fail to play the Test series?

What happens if Bangladesh fails to travel?

Now that the political unrest has increased and Bangladesh is facing issues with travelling to Pakistan, they might face consequences regarding this. Since the test cycle for the WTC finals is ongoing, if Bangladesh fails to play any match, then a walkover will be declared, and Pakistan and India will get the allotted points.

The points will be absolutely helpful for Pakistan as it will increase their chances of qualifying for the finals. On the other hand, India, which is already at the top of the points table, will get important points before the Australia series. These points will be handy before playing against competitors like Australia, New Zealand, and England.

"The BCB has confirmed to the PCB their men's 'A' cricket team's departure for Islamabad has been delayed by 48 hours due to unforeseen circumstances. The BCB and PCB have been in regular contact for the past two days and will continue to work together on the revised tour itinerary with further details to follow in due course," said PCB's statement.
