A year ago, Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc was the costliest player of the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction with a massive amount of INR 24.75. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) went all in for the player who had performed brilliantly in the ODI World Cup 2023. Starc's performance in the IPL 2024 wasn't that great but KKR lifted the trophy under Shreyas Iyer.
In the ongoing mega auction for IPL 2025, Delhi Capitals (DC) signed him for INR 11.75 crores. This has caused a drop of 52.5% for Starc in this mega auction as compared to the previous one. The player might not be happy with his salary but will surely try to increase it if he gets a chance to register for the auction. Starc is a lethal bowler and can cause problems for the batters in the IPL.
This time, Rishabh Pant became the highest-paid player in the history of the IPL. He was brought by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for a whopping amount of INR 27 crores. The bid was between LSG and SRH, and then DC was given a chance to RTM the player. They did, but LSG quoted a higher price than expected and hence, they got to keep the player.

Delhi Capitals steal KL Rahul for INR 14 crores
Before the start of the mega auction, KL Rahul received much hype after leaving LSG. It was expected that the captaincy candidate would get a high price in the IPL 2025 mega auction. But much to everyone's surprise, DC got Rahul for just INR 14 crores. Looking at Rahul's calibre, it felt like the price was quite lower than expected. He is a brilliant player and an amazing captain who has the chance to do wonders for his team.
Rahul was the skipper of LSG when he left him due to a controversy with owner Sanjiv Goenka. Now Rahul will play for a different franchise, trying to make the most out of the given opportunity. The captaincy position is much anticipated for Rahul in the Delhi Capitals.
