Pakistan have travelled all the way to South Africa to play a full series, including white ball and red ball cricket. They will be playing two Test matches, three ODIs, and three T20Is against the Proteas on their own home ground. Well, the start to the tour wasn't a great one, as Pakistan lost the first game by 11 runs. South Africa scored 183 runs in the first inning while Pakistan failed to chase the given target.
David Miller was the star batter for South Africa, scoring 82 runs in 40 balls. Captain Mohammad Rizwan also scored 74 runs in 62 balls, but it went in vain as the team lost the game. After watching Pakistan's batting, we look at their stats in T20Is; they have played around 15 games in the SENA countries and have won just three games out of them.
They lost 12 games, and their win percentage is just 20. This seems to be a concern for the team, but the team isn't doing much about it. To bring the stats in their favour, it will take a lot of time because Pakistan plays very few T20I games in the SENA countries. Nevertheless, Pakistan have two more games in South Africa in which they will definitely look to change the stats.
There are a lot of positives, and hopefully we do well in the next match: Mohammad Rizwan
Pakistan skipper Mohammad Rizwan was in a positive mood after the loss as he went on to point out the good things about the team. He praised Miller and Linde's performance and also mentioned that the spinners were brilliant with the ball. He made sure to clarify that the team will bounce back.
"The innings from Miller and Linde took the momentum away from us. The counterattack from Miller took the momentum, as we had started well by picking early wickets. The spinners bowled very well; they used the pitch and conditions well. There are a lot of positives, and hopefully we do well in the next match," said Mohammad Rizwan.
