Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have moved one step closer to IPL 2025 playoffs. Yash Dayal produced an amazing final over to help his side beat Chennai Super Kings by two runs. This win now means that RCB are top of the table and just need one more win to make it to the playoffs. The final over began with CSK needing 15 runs to win the game with MS Dhoni on strike.
The first two balls of the over produced two runs to make it 13 runs needed from four balls. In the third ball of the over, Dayal tailed the ball back into Dhoni’s pads and the batter was given out. Dhoni decided to review the call but the decision came in favor of the fielding side. Shivam Dube walked into bat as the impact player as more drama ensued.
Dube got a juicy full toss that he hit for a six and decided to review a no-ball for height. The decision came in favor of the batter as suddenly equation became six runs from three balls. In the resulting free-hit Dayal gave away just one run to make it five runs from two balls. Jadeja took a single off the fifth ball to make it four needed of the last ball. With tensions rising, Dayal bowled a perfect yorker to ensure Dube got only a single to help RCB win by two runs.
Yash Dayal turns savior for RCB one again
Left-arm seamer Yash Dayal was the hero for RCB in the IPL 2024 game between the two sides at the same venue. In that game CSK needed to reach 200 to qualify for the playoffs. Dhoni hit a huge six off Dayal but in the very next ball the CSK legend was out and the pacer finished off the over with a series of Yorkers.
Once the final ball was bowled each and every RCB player went and hugged the bowler. It was a huge moment in the season as at one stage it felt like Chennai were well on course to a famous win. Ayush Mhatre had scored 94 runs off 48 balls while Jadeja scored a career best unbeaten 77 to keep their team in the hunt.
