The second round of Duleep Trophy 2024 matches is underway on Thursday. Ruturaj Gaikwad who is the captain of the India C team had walked off the field retired hurt. The 27-year-old had got off the mark with a boundary before getting injured in the 2nd ball. 

One X user with the name Naitik posted a short video giving update on the injury. According to the video, Mukesh Kumar’s ball hit Ruturaj Gaikwad on his arm and he began to wince in pain. 

The medical staff came to the ground and began treating the India C skipper. After a short pause in the play, Ruturaj Gaikwad headed back to the pavilion retired hurt. As per further reports, it has been known that the injury suffered by Gaikwad isn’t serious and he can come out to bat later.

It was India B team who had won the toss and chose to bowl first. The India C had Ishan Kishan making his comeback to the side after missing the first game. After Gaikwad retired hurt, Sai Sudharsan and Rajat Patidar added 92 runs in quick time. 

The two batters were scoring boundaries at will against Mukesh Kumar and Navdeep Saini. The pair scored runs at over 4 runs per over as the India B bowlers were left clueless. Navdeep Saini then castled Patidar for 40 off 67 balls with 8 hits to the fence. Sai Sudharsan fell to Mukesh Kumar caught by Saini for 43 off 75 balls with 8 fours. 

During lunch, Ishan Kishan was batting on 20 off 15 balls with Baba Indrajith on 1. In the other game between India A and India D, Mayank Agarwal led India A had lost five wickets before Lunch. 

The Karnataka pacer Vidwath Kaverappa dismissed Agarwal and Pratham Singh for 7 each. Riyan Parag came out with aggressive intent and added 44 runs for the 3rd wicket with Tilak Varma. Arshdeep Singh got the wicket of Parag caught by Padikkal for 37 off 29 balls with 5 fours and a six. 

Saransh Jain then struck when he dismissed Tilak Varma for 10. Harshit Rana got the final scalp of the 1st session sending back Shashwat Rawat for 15 caught by Shreyas Iyer. Kumar Kushagra (19) and Shams Mulani (11) were at the crease for India A with the score reading 115/5 from 31 overs at the Lunch interval.
