Meanwhile, a day earlier during the same show, sitting alongside India’s Cheteshwar Pujara and Nikhil Chopra, Wasim Akram spoke about the allegations ‘favouritism culture’ in the Pakistan cricket team.

“I believe these are our best players” – Wasim Akram on Pakistan cricket team

The comments from the former legendary pacer came after Pakistan faced a big 60-run defeat against New Zealand in the tournament opener of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

“If you want me to be brutally honest, I can be. In our culture, we say, 'These are our kids, don't criticise them.' But I believe these are our best players. If there was someone better, they would have been selected. People talk about 'parchi' (selection based on favouritism), but at this level, parchi doesn't work,” Akram was quoted as saying by Geo TV.

Now, Mohammad Rizwan-led Pakistan will face the arch-rivals India in the high-octane clash in the ICC Champions Trophy 202. The high-profile game will be played on February 23, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
