In their last Group A encounter of the Champions Trophy 2025, India defended 249 against New Zealand, despite a few fielding errors. However, Virat Kohli kept the atmosphere light on the field. Shreyas Iyer lost sight of the ball while attempting to gather it close to his feet while fielding within the 30-yard circle, which is when it all started. He was unable to find the ball and whirled around in uncertainty. Luckily, it hadn't passed him, but Iyer lost his equilibrium and had trouble seeing it in time. Virat Kohli went up to Iyer in the next over and they had a lighthearted conversation. Fans were inconsolable when Kohli seemed to mock Iyer's fielding error by mimicking his spin.

On the field, Kohli was a lightning-fast player who chopped out singles when positioned at short cover. When Varun Chakravarthy had a difficult day and let up additional runs because of poor fielding, the former captain was at his most outspoken and expressed his dissatisfaction. When Kane Williamson's catch was lost by KL Rahul in the eleventh over, captain Rohit Sharma also expressed his disappointment. Batting at 16, Williamson edged an Axar Patel delivery, but Rahul's gloves let the ball slide through.

In the field, India found it difficult to match New Zealand's energy, even when players like Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Kohli showed moments of genius. New Zealand made three incredible catches and saved at least 15 to 20 runs on the field. Kane Williamson's two incredible catches demonstrated that age is only a number, while Glenn Phillips' one-handed grab to eliminate Kohli went viral.

Shreyas Iyer helped India reach a good score

In the last over of India's innings, he was able to remove Ravindra Jadeja by diving full-length to his left with his weaker left hand. In the high-stakes match in Dubai, India could only manage 249 in their allocated 50 overs, despite a sturdy 79 from Shreyas Iyer and important contributions from Axar Patel and Hardik Pandya.
