Virat Kohli scored his 99th T20 fifty in the Indian Premier League (IPL) game between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Kohli got to his fifty in style with a huge six off Vignesh Puthur in the fourth ball of the ninth over of the innings. Puthur bowled an overpitched ball at Kohli’s leg who hit the ball deep into the stands for a six.

Hardik Pandya decided to bowl first after winning the toss as Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah came into the side. Phil Salt got things going with a four in the first ball of the game. In the very next ball, Boult swung the ball into the batter and Salt could hear the death rattle as he was out for four runs.
Devdutt Padikkal began his innings in style as he hit Boult for a four to get off the mark. The left-handed batter used his reach well to pull Boult for a six in the third over of the innings. RCB batters put the Mumbai bowlers under pressure as they managed to score 73 runs from the first six overs.

Jasprit Bumrah, playing his first game since January saw Kohli greet him with a tremendous six in the second ball of his opening over. The 31-year-old was hit for 10 runs in his opening as Hardik Pandya decided to bring former RCB player Will Jacks into the attack.
Bowling the fifth over of the innings, Jacks conceded ten runs with two boundaries coming off his over. Deepak Chahar continued his bad form with the ball as the pacer was hit for 20 runs in the final over before powerplay. Padikkal in particular went after Chahar as the batter hit two successive sixes and followed it up with a four.
Vignesh Puthur broke the second wicket stand between Padikkal and Kohli worth 91 runs in the final ball of the ninth over. Padikkal went for a huge hit off the bowler as Jacks settled under the ball and took a neat catch. The left-handed batter was out after scoring 37 from 22 balls with three sixes and two hits to the fence in his knock.
