'Four and Out'- WATCH: Trent Boult makes a mess of Phil Salt’s stumps to give MI great start vs RCB

New Zealand pacer Trent Boult continued his great tradition of picking a wicket in the first over in Indian Premier League (IPL). The veteran Mumbai Indians bowler uprooted Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Phil Salt’s leg-stump in the second ball of the game. Salt played a tremendous drive in the first ball of the game for a boundary to give his side a great start to the game.

In the very next ball, Boult swung the ball into the batter as Salt went for yet another drive. This time, the ball sneaked in as there was a huge gap between the pad and pad to knock out the leg-stump. Mumbai Indians fans rejoiced after the wicket as Phil Salt is a very dangerous batter in the powerplay overs. 

Hardik Pandya won the toss for MI and chose to bowl first considering the conditions at the Wankhede Stadium. The home fans let out a huge cheer as it was announced that Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah were back in the team for the game. RCB decided to go in with the same side that had played the last game against Gujarat Titans at home. 

RCB get off to a flier despite loss of early wicket 

The fall of Phil Salt didn’t faze number three batter Devdutt Padikkal who began his innings with a boundary. The first over bowled by Boult produced just eight runs as the home team got off to a good start. Deepak Chahar was given the second over of the game and the 32-year-old was hit for nine runs. 

Virat Kohli got his first boundary of the game when he pulled Chahar to the square leg region. Trent Boult’s second over saw 16 runs being scored as RCB began scoring at over 11 runs per over. Padikkal pulled the Kiwi pacer for a huge six as it carried over Bumrah’s head who was fielding at the backward square leg region. 

The final two balls of the same over saw Kohli hit two successive fours to ruin Boult’s figures. Mumbai Indians need to win the game to keep in touch with the top half of the table. Ashwani Kumar who made his debut against Kolkata last week made his way for Bumrah who was playing his first game since January.
