Royal Challengers Bengaluru moved to the third spot in the tournament’s points table with an 11-run win against RR in the 42nd game of the ongoing IPL 2025. The veteran pacer Josh Hazlewood played a pivotal role in RCB’s thrilling win over RR, with his sensational bowling spell in the second innings.

Meanwhile, what attracted the eyeballs was the celebration of former RCB skipper and modern-day batting great, Virat Kohli, with the star pacer Josh Hazlewood. Immediately after RCB’s win, Kohli was seen running towards Hazlewood and lifting him joyously.

Josh Hazlewood leads RCB’s bowling attack against RR

Speaking of the action of the game between RCB and RR at M Chinnaswamy in Bengaluru, the visiting skipper Riyan Parag won the toss and asked RCB to bat first. Batting first, the hosts posted a big total of 205 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. The batting stalwart Virat Kohli played a decisive knock of 70 runs off just 42 balls, with eight fours and two sixes, followed by Devdutt Padikkal’s 50 runs off just 27 balls, with 4 fours and three sixes. Later in the innings, Tim David and Jitesh Sharma also contributed with 23 and 20 runs, respectively. 

While defending the target in the second innings, the RCB bowling attack, led by the veteran pacer Josh Hazlewood, restricted RR to the score of 194 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the entire 20 overs. Josh Hazlewood bowled a sensational spell, scalping 4 wickets at 33 runs in his 4 overs, alongside 2 wickets bagged by Krunal Pandya. Besides these two, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Yash Dayal also picked up a wicket each.

Josh Hazlewood also won the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his match-winning bowling performance as he conceded only 7 runs in the last two overs of his spell.
