Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) beat Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by six wickets in the final league match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. This win ensured that RCB ended the season second on the points table and will also play the first qualifier against Punjab Kings (PBKS). Former RCB skipper Virat Kohli played a key knock with the bat, scoring 30-ball 54 with ten hits to the fence.
Once the game was over, cameras spotted Kohli giving flying kisses to his wife Anushka Sharma, who was in the stands. Anushka also responded in kind and was seemingly happy after RCB’s record chase. The first playoff match will witness RCB take on Shreyas Iyer’s Punjab, while the eliminator will witness Gujarat Titans take on Mumbai Indians.

Jitesh Sharma won the toss and decided to put LSG into bat. Rishabh Pant scored his second IPL ton and was not out on 118 off just 61 balls with 11 fours and eight huge sixes. Mitchell Marsh ended his best-ever season in the IPL by scoring 67 off 37 balls with four boundaries and five sixes.
Phil Salt and Virat Kohli gave RCB yet another flying start, adding 61 for the first wicket. The Englishman playing his final game of the season scored 30 off just 19 balls before falling to Akash Singh in the sixth over. William O'Rourke then dismissed Rajat Patidar and Liam Livingstone off successive balls to reduce RCB to 90 for three in the eighth over.
Virat Kohli continued his good run of form with the bat and went past 600 runs for the season for the third successive time. Avesh Khan dismissed the former RCB skipper, caught by Ayush Badoni on the second ball of the 12th over. At that stage, RCB needed 106 runs to win from 52 balls.
Jitesh Sharma then played his best innings in IPL to score 85 not out off 33 balls with eight boundaries and six huge hits beyond the fence. Mayank Agarwal played his part well to stay not out on 41 off just 23 balls with five boundaries. The winning hit came off Jitesh’s bat as he finished the game off with a six off Ayush Badoni.
