India’s spin sensation, Varun Chakravarthy left England cricket team dazed with his amazing fifer on Tuesday. What made it even more special was the fact that Chakravarthy reached his fifer in the final ball of his spell.

Having played out a dot ball in the previous delivery, Archer was looking to see out India’s ace spinner. Chakravarthy bowled the perfect googly that beat the batter and hit the top of the stumps. Jofra Archer could only stare back in complete disbelief as the 33-year-old recorded his second fifer in T20I cricket for India.

33-year-old Varun Chakravarthy’s first fifer came against South Africa late last year albeit in a losing cause. The KKR spinner tied up the English batters in knots with his variations and took wickets at regular intervals to break the back of the visitors batting unit.

Suryakumar Yadav was left clueless as Ben Duckett and Jos Buttler went after the Indian bowling unit and scored runs with ease. The introduction of Varun Chakravarthy into the attack changed the course of the game. Jos Buttler was the first man out as he tried to reverse sweep the bowler only for Sanju Samson to take a smart catch.

Jamie Smith hit Chakravarthy for a huge six but fell in the very next ball. India’s wily spinner bowled a short ball and Smith took the bait and pulled the ball towards the boundary. Dhruv Jurel took a neat low catch to send England’s wicketkeeper back to the hut.

In the Very next ball, Jamie Overton went for a lap sweep and heard the death rattle to be dismissed for a golden duck. Chakravarthy had not only destroyed Overton’s leg-stump but also England’s batting order in quick time. Brydon Carse was Chakravarthy’s fourth wicket as the batter holed out to Tilak Varma who settled under the ball and took a neat catch. With the wicket of Jofra Archer, Indian team rushed to the bowler who single handedly brought India back into the contest.
