WATCH: Vaibhav Suryavanshi unleashes carnage with two successive sixes off Arshdeep Singh in RR vs PBKS game

Rajasthan Royals (RR) openers Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal got off to a great start in pursuit of a 220-run target. Punjab Kings, who had chosen to bat first after winning the toss, scored a massive 219 runs on the board in the IPL 2025 game on Sunday. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who had failed in the last two games, went after Arshdeep Singh in the final two balls of the fourth over.

Arshdeep’s overpitched ball saw the young batter swing the ball over the mid-wicket fence for a huge six. In the very next ball, the left-handed batter hit the seamer for the second successive six of the over. At the end of four overs, the home team had raced to 67 runs for no loss to put pressure on the PBKS bowlers. 

Earlier in the day, PBKS scored 219 runs for the loss of five wickets from their 20 overs. Nehal Wadhera was the best batter for the visitors, scoring 70 runs from just 37 balls. His innings included five boundaries and an equal number of sixes before he was out caught by Shimron Hetmyer off Akash Madhwal’s bowling. Shashank Singh scored an unbeaten 59 off 30 balls with five boundaries and three sixes. 

Rajasthan Royals get off to fiery start 

Yashasvi Jaiswal got things going with 22 runs in the very first over of the chase off Arshdeep Singh. The left-handed batter hit four boundaries and ended the over with a huge six. Marco Jansen’s opening over saw 17 runs being scored as Vaibhav Suryavanshi got into the act and hit two sixes and a four. 

The fifty for RR came in in just 2.5 overs as Jaiswal hit his third four off the over against Xavier Bartlett. This was also the fastest ever fifty by a team in this season of the IPL. The previous best was by Punjab Kings, who had reached the mark in three overs in their game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. 

Harpreet Brar finally ended the dangerous 76-run stand for the first wicket in the fifth over; Suryavanshi went for a big shot off the left-arm spinner and was caught by Xavier Bartlett to give some respite to the bowling side. Suryavanshi was out after scoring 40 from just 15 balls with the help of four boundaries and four huge sixes.
