New Zealand and Uganda met each other at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad and Tobago. Both sides were already out of contention for a place in the Super-8 stages of the T20 World Cup after Afghanistan’s 7-wicket over Papua New Guinea.

Trent Boult who is known to be a master exponent of swing bowling had the Uganda batters in shambles early. The veteran pacer trapped Simon Ssesazi for a first ball duck with a full ball. The umpire gave it not out but the Kiwis decided to go for the review and it came out in favor of the fielding team.

The very next ball Robinson Obuya saw his stumps shattered as he recorded a golden duck. Boult got the ball into the batter and Uganda were 1 for 2 in the first over of the game with the Kiwi star running rampant.

Uganda disappoints with the bat once again

Kane Williamson won the toss and decided to bowl first and play the same team as the last match. Tim Southee joined Trent Boult in the wicket-taking spree as the veteran right-arm pacer got the wicket of Alpesh Ramjani for a six ball duck.

Mitchell Santner then struck the 4th blow when he had opener Ronak Patel out for 2. The right-handed batter had come into the team in place of Roger Mukasa and struggled for 19 balls before being dismissed.

Lockie Ferguson beat Kenneth Waiswa for pace as he went past the defense of the Uganda batter to bowl him out for 11. Waiswa was the only batter to reach double figures for his side as they were bowled out for 40.

Uganda had started the tournament being bowled out for 58 against Afghanistan. This was followed by their 39 all out against West Indies, and 40 against New Zealand on Friday. The Brian Masaba led side to not go past 100 on the board this campaign as their only win against PNG came while chasing 77.

Tim Southee was the best bowler for the Kiwis as he picked 3 wickets for 4 runs from his complete quota. Trent Boult, Rachin Ravindra, and Lockie Ferguson picked 2 wickets each for the Kiwis.
