Paarl Royals had a good outing against MI Cape Town in the ninth game of the ongoing SA20 2025, as they won by six wickets. The 18-year-old opener for the Royals, Lhuan-dre Pretorius, wreaked havoc on the strong bowling lineup of MI, leading to a victory. The player scored 83 runs off 52 balls and hit eight boundaries and three sixes. It was one of the best innings in T20 cricket, played by an 18-year-old player.

In between those hitting and smashing, Pretorius had a banter with the great bowler of MI, Trent Boult, who was in no mood to listen to the young lad. On the first ball of the sixth over, Boult delivered a full-length ball, which chased the batter as he went away from the stumps. However, he managed to get his bat on it and drive it towards deep square leg.

Boult didn't seem happy with the way Pretorius played the ball while the batter was smiling. On the very next ball, Joe Root hit the ball towards the bowler, and it stuck Boult's hand and went to the non-striker. This is where it seemed like the bowler lost his calm and argued with Pretorius for less time. The fans enjoyed the banter, as it's very rare to see Boult lose his calm.

I think I adapted to it quite well: Lhuan-dre Pretorius

After scoring a magnificent half-century, Pretorius was given the Player of the Match award. At the award ceremony, he spoke about his role in the team and how the teammates are taking the win. The 18-year-old was happy with the batting but was a bit disappointed that he got out early and couldn't finish the game.

"It would have been nice to finish the game off, but it is what it is. Got over the line, happy with that. They are buzzing inside the changing room there. Conditions were different today, ball was skiding on nicely and I think I adapted to it quite well. I spoke to the coach about having clarity with my game and having a clear role," said Pretorius during the post-match presentation.
