In 2016, Karun Nair created history by smashing a triple century against England in Chennai. In the 5th Test match, Nair showed his brilliant batting skills and hit an unbeaten 303 runs and 381 balls, including 32 boundaries and four sixes. His spirit of the game was seen throughout the innings when he was bashing the England bowlers along with KL Rahul

However, unlike Nair, Rahul didn't have a fairytale ending as he was dismissed on 199 runs. It was one of the most heartbreaking moments in the cricketing history. However, Nair's innings were top-notch, and he displayed a class act during the test match. With his help, India was able to beat England by an innings and 75 runs. India clean sweeped England 4-0 in the 5-match Test series, which was an achievement.

Nair's historic performance is remembered by every Indian, even today, as he was commendable and also won the Player of the Match award. Apart from that, Virat Kohli won the Player of the Series award as he scored 655 runs. However, after that, Nair vanished from Test cricket after scoring his maiden century, and the reason is unknown. But the question remains: Will he make a comeback?

Does Karun Nair have a chance to come back in the Bangladesh series?

Karun Nair has been a consistent player in the domestic set-up and still feels he has the ability to reach the peak and is trying to grab every opportunity he can. In the Ranji Trophy 2023-24, he scored 690 runs for Vidharbha and has a solid chance of getting his place back in the Indian team. The selectors will be looking for fresh faces in the upcoming Bangladesh series and Nair will be a very good option.

"I am in a good head space, I know where my game is. I am just making sure if I get opportunities, wherever it may be, the focus is on making the most of those chances so that I can climb up the stairs again. It's still exciting to wake up each morning and dream of finding a way back to play Test cricket," said Karun Nair.
