Former India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar participated in the Hong Kong Sixes tournament in the early 1990s when the tournament came into existence. It was one of the most entertaining tournaments because of its structure, and the participation of prominent players worldwide made it even more fascinating to watch. The legendary Indian batter Tendulkar also had the privilege to play in the tournament, as it garnered a lot of fans and created hype. 

After a long wait of seven years, the Hong Kong Sixes tournament returns. This time, India and Pakistan will participate in the 20th edition of the tournament, which will start on November 1 and end on November 3. The venue for the tournament is Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground in Hong Kong. There will be 12 teams who will participate in the tournament, increasing the fun and thrill.

The tournament will have six players per team, and a total of five overs will be played on each side. Moreover, just like any other cricket match, a total of six balls will be bowled per over. The final game of the tournament will have 8 balls per side, and the game will be five per side. All the players will have to bowl except the wicketkeeper.  

India to participate in Hong Kong Sixes Tournament

The tournament organizers have confirmed India's participation in the tournament, and for that, the Board will send a 7-member squad to Hong Kong. Since the main team will be playing the Test series against New Zealand, the selectors must send a B team to participate in the tournament. 

Ruturaj Gaikwad will most likely be selected as the captain as he has experience in leading the team in tournaments. Previously, he captained India in the Asian Games, where they won the Gold Medal in 2023.

India's Likely Squad: Ruturaj Gaikwad (Captain), Abhishek Sharma, Abdul Samad, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Prabhsimran Singh (WK), Ravi Bishnoi, Varun Chakravarthy, and Deepak Chahar.
