After a long delay, the Indian cricket team are back home as they landed in New Delhi. The entire team was cheered wildly as they made their way inside the hotel. Hardik Pandya could be seen dancing with the welcoming party to show the joyful mood the team is in.

Rohit Sharma and his men were stuck in Barbados as a hurricane had delayed their departure from the Caribbean. BCCI made special arrangements for the team to make their way back home by sending a special plane.

The entire team is expected to meet the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi later in the day. This will be followed by the team reaching Mumbai where they will take part in an open bus parade before heading to the famous Wankhede Stadium.

Rohit Sharma delighted after reaching India

Veteran opener and Indian skipper Rohit Sharma’s joy knew no bounds when he came back home. The 37-year-old was seen holding the trophy aloft while being flanked by the security personnel.

Indian pacer Mohammed Shami recently spoke to the media where he shared his delight over India’s win. The veteran pacer also dwelled deep into the retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from the T20I format.

"The retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from T20Is was a shock. They have been stalwarts for India, delivering outstanding performances for the country for 15-16 years and earning their titles as kings of white-ball cricket” Shami said to the media.

The 33-year-old also added, “Both retiring simultaneously is shocking, but it's part of the natural cycle, when one player leaves, another steps in. However, replacing such stars in the team will be a significant challenge.”

Virat Kohli announced his retirement from the T20I format when he was given the player of the match. Rohit Sharma on the other hand broke the news during the press conference at the end of the game. A day later it was the turn of Ravindra Jadeja to call it quits from the T20I format.

“Bidding goodbye to a journey after achieving your goal is a truly emotional moment. I would like to thank both Rohit and Virat for winning matches for the team, playing amazing innings for India, and breaking records along the way,” said an emotional Mohammed Shami.
